HELLO

Kalita was an 11-year-old in rural Ontario, Canada when she first pulled her mother’s old BC Rich acoustic guitar from the back of the closet and taught herself how to accompany her singing. Raised on country music, Kalita brings tight harmonies and storytelling to mix with her jazz and R&B influenced vocal styling. She carries in her vocals the influences of Tori Kelly, Norah Jones, JOSEPH and Lizzy McAlpine with nods to her classical and a cappella training. Her guitar and piano accompaniment serve merely as a backdrop to her emotional vocals and lyrics. Kalita released her debut single ‘Daisy’ in 2023 and her daughters still asks her to sing it every night at bedtime. Kalita’s hope is to inspire contemplation and challenge old thought patterns through her music. Kalita’s first EP, "Mostly Over It" explores themes of personal growth, grief, motherhood, faith and self-reflection.

 Kalita lives in Flint, Michigan with her husband, Cole, her two daughters and their dogs Chevy and Beatrice.
